| McCain saved money by using wife's jet
Republican presidential hopeful John McCain used the corporate jet belonging to his wife's company at little cost, records show. The presumptive GOP nominee used the jet owned by a company headed by Cindy McCain at a discounted rate despite supporting legislation last year requiring presidential candidates to pay the actual cost of flying on corporate jets. The New York Times reported Sunday that the Arizona senator's campaign paid a total of $241,149 for the use of the Cessna Citation Excel from last August through February, paying only about what it would cost to charter a similar jet for a month or two. "This amounts to a subsidy for his campaign, which is notable given how badly they were struggling last year," said Sheila Krumholz, executive director of the Center for Responsive Politics, a nonpartisan group that collects and analyzes campaign data.

Hot Spot: Shoppers aren't the only thing Icelandic charter flights bring to St. John's
Iceland in November was dark, cold, expensive, and the water in my hotel tasted like sulphur. And you know what? I can't wait to go back. My five-day adventure was just long enough to leave me captivated by the place. The direct charter flight left St. John's and within three hours - the time it takes to fly to Toronto - we were landing at the Keflavik International Airport, which is 40 minutes outside of Reykjavik, the most northerly capital city in the world. Iceland's name might send cold shivers down your spine, but a warm North Atlantic current gives it a higher annual temperature than places with similar latitudes. Winter in Reykjavik is typically warmer than it is in New York City. That doesn't mean pack short sleeves and shorts. There are, after all, 20 different ways to say blizzard in Icelandic.
